We made a donation to The Children’s Hospital Trust by sponsoring one of our consultants, Bart Jongsma, for the Cape Town Cycle Tour 2019. Read about his race below.
This year’s Cape Town Cycle Tour was one of the harder cycles that our Bart Jongsma has done to date. The South Easter wind was intense all the way to Smitswinkel, and it only got better by the time Bart got to Chapman’s Peak (which is typically a difficult section).
Despite the extreme weather, Bart had a great race and enjoyed the atmosphere.
“It’s the only time of the year where you can cycle the beautiful peninsula route without cars around,” says Bart, who rides his mountain bikes twice a week. “From Muizenberg onwards, you are almost always along the sea, and the views are just amazing.”
His favourite part of the tour was from Muizenberg onwards, since this part of the route takes place along the shoreline and has amazing seaviews.
However, the tour was not just for fun. Bart was cycling to make a donation towards The Children’s Hospital Trust, via Nexus. “I know that the Children’s Trust does a great job for children that are very sick or abused,” says Bart.
The Children’s Hospital Trust is an organisation that raises funds for projects that help advance child healthcare. This is done through the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.
The donations which they rely on goes towards funding these projects and programmes, which aim to transform lives.
We feel honoured to have contributed to this incredible trust. Support them here.
